In 2004, Boston was chosen as the city to host the first US Presidential Democratic National Convention (DNC), since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The level of security for this high-profile political event was unprecedented. iSYS was tasked with the designing, furnishing, installation, configuration and testing of a completely new wireless CCTV network, including 30+ PTZ cameras, to provide real-time intelligence for various authorized Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies to monitor this event. Challenges for this project included an extremely aggressive installation schedule, changing environmental circumstances, and intense coordination with all of the law enforcement authorities, as well as numerous other contractors. US Secretary of Homeland Security Thomas Ridge, in preparation for the DNC, toured the command center and witnessed how these systems would monitor the convention security.
As a result of the successful deployment of the DNC CCTV network, iSYS went on to perform a similar installation at the Republican National Convention in New York City later that same year. This system also included a new wireless CCTV network, including 20+ PTZ cameras, to provide real-time intelligence for various authorized City, State and Federal law enforcement agencies for the Republican National Convention.
