MBTA Automated Fare Collection Pilot and System-Wide Projects
In 2007, iSYS completed this fast-track project consisting of design, installation and integration of the following systems:
- CCTV – iSYS installed over 80 new DVRs, 140 encoders, and 300+ new fixed and PTZ cameras at over 70 locations throughout the MBTA system. iSYS also designed and installed a new customized head-end CCTV system (manager-of-managers) to monitor all new and existing cameras (500+) on the entire MBTA alignment, complete with customized configurations including motion based recording and web view with access parameters.
- SCADA – iSYS installed a new SCADA system at over 70 locations, including new customized head-end software to monitor alarms at all MBTA Transit Stations, including interface to the new automated fare gates and fire alarm systems. The new head-end software included a map-based graphical user interface (GUI) to immediately identify alarm conditions at MBTA Transit Stations.
- Intercom – iSYS installed over 120 new intercoms throughout the MBTA Transit System, and integrated these new intercoms into the MBTA’s existing intercom network. This installation included custom configurations at each location.
- Fire Alarm Systems – iSYS installed new fire alarm systems at 34 Transit Stations, including customized interface to existing protection systems and to new automated fare gates. In addition, iSYS also provided a new interface for all other existing fire alarm systems in the MBTA Transit System between new automated fare gates and the new SCADA system installed at each Transit Station.
iSYS delivered customized training to MBTA personnel for the new CCTV and SCADA software, at both user and administrator levels.
